Scholarship Benefits
The Friedrich Ebert Scholarship offers various benefits to international students through its exemplary non-refundable funding. Considering that education in Germany is free, you can use the funds coming through this scholarship toward your living expenses and maintaining a sustainable setup looking at your future. Under this scholarship, the students will not have to pay any tuition fees.
This is provided by the German government which means that tuition fee waivers to international students will be provided. A monthly stipend of EUR 830 will be rolled out to all students undertaking studies under this program. This monthly stipend can be used by the students according to their choice and needs. The Master’s students will receive EUR 850 as a monthly stipend.
The students will also receive health insurance to cover their expenses in case of any health problems or accidents. This is highly beneficial considering that you won’t have to worry about funds in an emergency. The students with children will receive a monthly family allowance of EUR 276. These stipends and allowances ensure that you can seamlessly meet your expenditures through the scholarship funds.
Eligibility Criteria for Friedrich Ebert Scholarship
This is a merit-based scholarship. Hence, students will be required to meet the designated criteria to be eligible for the scholarship program. The students must demonstrate their excellent academic record to be considered for the scholarship. This scholarship will be primarily awarded for academic excellence. Therefore, first graded proof of academic excellence would be required for eligibility. The students must also be enrolled at a higher education institution in Germany for eligibility.
The students may also be required to exhibit dedication and commitment to social and political activities. Moreover, they must be supportive of social democracy to bring sustainable changes. The applicants must also align with the foundation goals and activities to be considered for the scholarship.
Additionally, basic knowledge of the German language would be required for eligibility regardless that the courses will be in the English language. The students coming from Asia, Latin America, Africa, post-Soviet states, and Eastern and Southern Europe will be considered for this scholarship program.

Language Requirements
To be eligible for the Friedrich Ebert Scholarship, the students will be required to demonstrate a sound knowledge and grip over the German language even if their course is in the English language. You can’t attain an education in Germany without knowing the language.
There are no language requirements for the English language. However, to prove your German Language Proficiency, you would be required to submit Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” of at least DSH level 2, a “Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache” of at least level 4, a “Zertifikat C1” by a Goethe Institute, the “Deutsche Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz” on level II or Telc C1 Hochschule. These are mandatory submissions to be considered for the scholarship.
